I say we talk about some other fun and exciting topics like:
  1. DIR
  2. Which side to hang your deco gases
  3. Where to hang your canister light
  4. HID vs LED
  5. 100% O2 vs 80% O2 deco gases
  6. Whether instructors should wear the same equipment as their students
  7. ...and let's not forget the ever popular topic of the Solo Diver card!
:rofl3:

I don't disagree...simulation is not always as good as the real deal, but I also think there are certain situations and skills you can do successfully in a similuation. I'd include certain intro classes in that group...PADI Wreck, PADI Cavern, Intro to Tech classes. :D

Let's not forget CPR and Rescue... I prefer those to be simulation as well :D

I've seen Paul simulate accidents so real I almost goofed and interfered with his students trying to help. Later, I got to play un-responsive diver and must say that there was no slack in the swift and serious rescue I received as the victim. Paul’s got some great special effects when it comes to accidents

Paul is an excellent diver/instructor and I do not doubt his ability to adequately train divers in the skills required for Cavern certification.

My personal preference is to train in as close an environment as possible to the one I plan on diving in, if able to do so safely (i.e. it's not necessary to swallow a bunch of water to be an adequate drowning victim).

If someone takes the class (simulated or not) and then dies in a cavern, it is probable that they broke some rules, went beyond the skills and training of the class, and found themselves S.O.L.

In this situation I’d suggest staying calm and remember the mantra…

What about the always exciting topic of 'perpendicular rigid hip D-rings' or non rigid d-rings......and while we are there....just one on your L hip, or wearing one on each hip....SO cheesy... :)

Here's another.... tank leash or hip d-ring...maybeee both? :14:

Not the right/left side snorkel debate again... Any DIMWIT diver knows it's left!
