i've been to sogod last year and i was pi$$ed that phil wouldnt take us to see the whalesharks since they just went there before we arrived and saw a few already. but i would write off the dives there simply because there were no whalesharks. true, i went there primarily for the whalesharks but i also enjoyed diving and taking pics of the macro subjects at the pier and the house reefs. the corals there were pristine, at least in the protected areas. sogod bay is actually up there in my list of favorite dive destinations in the country. but then each on has its own preference. and i agree its not fun being in a boat with that many divers. sorry to hear you didnt enjoy your trip.

Kopin - don't give up on the Philippines. It really has some great diving. You have to admit that the hard and soft coral at Sogod was tremendous. I have been to Palau, GBR, Indonesia, Sulawesi, and this coral was some of the best I have ever seen. Granted, there weren't alot of fish but there was some great macro - saw an orangutan crab! And I have never seen so many scorpion fish.

Also, the vis affected the diving alot but the stuff that causes the vis to be poor is the same stuff those whalesharks are after....so......

Try Balicasag Island - tremendous fish and tremendous soft coral gardens. :blinking:

Agree that Pete's had soooo many divers but we were fine to hang back and be the last on the boat which seemed to help us enjoy the dives more.

Yes, the coral at Sogod Bay is good....But my purpose is meat, not vegetables.

I think maybe I expressed my feeling too directly.....without magnifying it or lessening it.I am just aware that my bad habit is coming again. There was no offense at the beginning but I did have some complaints....

I will not give up PI because there are still lots of PI dive sites I have never been.....I just felt disappointed this time and part of my words are just complaints.

That's good to hear.

Dude, it's a Friday...as part of my save-money programme..I've decided to stay indoors on Fridays and Saturdays while our drummer's there in the Philippines.

BTW, aren't you in Manila right now? It's almost 12 there, what are you doing indoors?

yes.. Flying to Negros in the morning. figured I should pack and get some sleep whilst Maggie does the work thing.

z...

Oh man...you're flying to Negros, to meet *** *******, I'll remember to light a votive candle when I go to mass on Sunday(No I don't go to mass, but I'll make an exception). Just kidding dude...you'll have a good time. Just take it easy, have a drink with the locals, don't refuse any food offered, you know the drill.
