In February 2025, while diving with Triton Bay Divers, we took a trip to dive with whale sharks. It was a truly epic dive, as we dove with nine whale sharks and many dolphins.
Whale sharks in Triton Bay are often seen around traditional fishing platforms called "bagans." They are drawn to these platforms to feed on small fish, such as anchovies, that get caught in the nets. This creates a unique opportunity to see them up close.

Thank you! Gorgeous work. Must have been such a thrill.

On my bucket list for sure.

Breathtaking. Thanks. We're booked for Cenderawasih in July '26--youve certainly set a high bar for that trip!

Short but very sweet video! Thanks so much for sharing.

It was interesting to note that one whale shark was free of remora but the next completely covered in them.

Thanks for sharing - how was the diving in Triton bay?
My diving experience in Triton Bay this time around was quite like what I've come to expect. When the current and water clarity are good, the diving is truly amazing. However, when those conditions aren't ideal, it can be rather dull. The dives where we saw whale sharks were wonderful! Seeing a walking shark and a bigfin squid during a night dive was also very memorable. On the other hand, the muck diving wasn't as exciting as it was last year.

Thank you for your comments. I agree that it is strange that remoras cover only some whale sharks. It looks like older sharks get more attention from remoras.
