Does PADI recognize SSI? and vice versa?

for example: say I wanted to become adv. OW certified in SSI... would PADI then accept the AOW cert. with SSI if I wanted to take a Rescue Diver cert. course?

Both standards add the "or equivalent" disclaimer to their prerequisites. For example: PADI Rescue Diver or equivalent. SSI requires more dives to be called Advanced Open Water, however AOW is not an SSI prequisite to take the Stress and Rescue Specialty Course.
