Just got my C card two days ago and now I have to decide on which wetsuit to buy. A friend told me buy it online from www.diveinn.com and the Mares Thermic Evolution 5mm+5mm looks mighty attractive for only $270. Anyone has any experience with Mares wetsuits? Is this a good buy?

Thanks!

I've owned just about every brand of wetsuit made and the mares 2mm that I'm currently diving has lasted longer and fits better than any I've tried. The most important things is to get a suit that fits properly. Make sure that you take the time to try several suits on before buying.

Thanks miztflip!

It seems to me that nobody here uses Mares exposure suits or even like to mention them. While I was browsing through the "What equipment are you using?" section, nobody other than you has a Mares wetsuit. Maybe it's because it's European? :eek:ut:

AS miztflip said fit is paramount. Most major name brand manufacturer make a good product. However no wet suit will keep you warm if it doesn’t fit properly. Find the brand that fits you the best and get that one and you’ll be happy.

I have one, but didn't reply because I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet but I've heard it's really good. I have the Mares Isotherm Millennium 6.5mm semi-dry.

Yes they do, But Bare makes an excellent wetsuit also, and they fit me better than the mares.
Go with the one that fits the best.

Leisure pro has the best prices I've seen on Bare wetsuits.

My son has a Mares Isotherm Semi-dry, he loves it.

Happy hunting!

Thanks for all the good advise everybody! I just ordered my first wetsuit and I'll have a lot of fun diving this summer!

A lot of guys I dive with in Israel, use Mares wetsuits. Mares is generally a good brand and their wetsuits are no exception.

hi,
i HAD a Mares 3mm full suit. it was ok for a while, then the stiching started to come undone. also i found that after about 3 months i started getting cold on dives and found that the darn thing had compressed to about a 1.5mm suit. i also didnt like the way the velcro strap on the neck always caught on the thigh and caused it to rough up. i dont rate it so much, but i hear the isotherm is ok. i think Mares should stick to fins (IMHO).
