I was at one of the few LDS around here who sell scubapro gear (as I am thinking about buying SP regs), and I inquired about pricing..the guy handed me the ScubaPro catalog which had all the MSRP prices. Are most LDS prices pretty close to MSRP?

I believe ScubaPro fixes its prices. If you it for markedly less anywhere, it's likely grey-market equipment.

Outside of the grey market, the best you can expect anywhere is probably a 10% discount from MSRP when a sale is going on. One exception is when a LDS has failed to comply with ScubaPro pricing and been cut off. Then he may blow out his remaining inventory at a substantial discount.

You might have to look around a bit to find one that will give the allowable 10% discount. Or look around more and you might find an authorized dealer who needs the sale and will cut the price even further. At MSRP, the markup is right about 100% of the dealer's cost, just so you know what you are working with.

Get it from leisurepro and enjoy the cost savings!

Diveinn Scubastore is in Spain. Scubapro may not have the same restrictions for internet sales outside the US but I would hardly consider this mainstream. The 10% discount is the best I have found in the US except for distress sales. Good equipment, Scubapro/Uwatec generally controls the sale price as does Aqualung/Suunto.

Good diving, Craig

I have not seen any LDS that stocks Scubapro products sell below MSRP - 10%. Most sell at MSRP, though one shop said they could give me the 10% discount. I believe their hands are pretty much tied but I can't justify the cost to buy locally. Here it costs 975AUD for the Uwatec computer I want, which is MSRP (one shop said they could do it for 10% off that cost). Online from the US it will cost me 430AUD deliveried. I only get the online store's warranty but if my first one fails out of warranty, then I can buy another one and still have spent not much more than what it would cost for ONE computer from a local store. When I buy my new computer, I am going to have words with some of the dive shops to see what they can do, as I would like a Scubapro warranty if possible. I'd be prepared to pay 430+10% to buy locally, but no more. :)

If I was running a local dive store, I'd be pretty annoyed at Scubapro for MSRP... MSRP is actually illegal here (and Oceanic was busted not long ago), so I am really not sure how they can continue to get away with it.

ScubaPro enforces MAP (minimum advertised price) but not fixed prices. Most ScubaPro retailers will offer discounts at the cash register. They do discourage below retail pricing but register discount are difficult to police.

I do not agree. Recently I bought a Canon underwater case for my Canon camera from Amazon. The MSRP was 240 (already discontinued) and the price I paid for it, brand new, was 147,50.
