<snip> I have a concern that it will tend to twist in the seal. I do have one coupling that fits inside the 3" coupling and slides up into the sleeve. There was only one of them mixed in with the standard couplings and I have been unable to find another one anywhere. It has the outside diameter of 3" pvc but is pretty thin. <snip>
Yeah, this is what I'm thinking too, re: the twisting. When putting the glove on, the ring wants to twist around a bit in the latex seal and care has to be taken so it won't twist. The reducing coupler, that you found, would seem to be the ideal solution. Did you find your 1 at Home Depot? Also, I am wondering about shaving the the top of the back end of the coupler real thin and seeing if it would fit past the sleeve end. Any thoughts on this, before I do it?

1 - Yes, I believe it was Home Depot. Either that or Lowes. I figure I will go to a real plumbing supply house to find the right thing. (I will post a picture of what I have for you maybe tomorrow).

2 - Yes, I actually tried that on my first ring (reducing the back end to slide up into the sleeve) but I broke the coupling with the router as I tried it. This was my first ever project with a router so I am learning how to use it. Now that I understand router technique a little better I think I will try that again if I can't find the fitting soon. I just figured it would be easier to glue in the other fitting if I could find it. I will let you know what I come up with.

Excellent, the DIY is getting more professionalized. Please post the picture after successfully completing the project... I might want to buy some rings from you at a darn good price...

Here is what I have so far. I will post new pics when complete.

Got them complete today. The smaller coupling is what they call an SDR coupling. It stands for sewer, drain, and reservoir. It fits right inside the standard sched 40 coupling just like a piece of 3" pvc. I had to call several plumbing supply places before I finally located them not 10 minutes from home.

The SDR tube slid right up inside my sleeve and my sched 40 ring sits right against the end of the sleeve. The flat belts in the picture are only there to improve the looks of the sealtape. I had the belts laying around so I just threw them on. They are not needed to hold the rings in place.

Can't wait to give them a try!

What about doing something for neoprene seals. Any thoughts?

Hey, any update yet? We are looking forward to hearing about your new fine works, man....

Anybody tried this without zip seals? I have a BARE XCD2 Tech dry with latex seals, but not zips.

This coming Sunday. I can't wait! I also have a new harness and I'm finishing up some weight pockets I'm making. It's going to be a big day for test dives.
