I made myself a pair and tried in the 50~52F waters of Monterey, with warm water diving gloves underneath. Perfect.
One thing that didn't occurr to me before the trial was the squeeze, but that's a manegeable nuissance compared to the benefits of dry and warm hands.

Great post, thank you!

I also tested it last weekend. It worked very well without any leaks. It was much easier to doff than any other ring systems though. I had hard time to put the O-ring by myself....

Slide tubes up your wrist seals. Then you can raise your hands and relieve the squeeze. Your hands will be even warmer too. When I tested I did one with the tube and one without. The one without the tube was warm and the squeeze was manageable but the one with the tube was very noticeably better.

That's right, tubes would do!
Thanks again!

I wish I would of found this tread before I ordered a ring system. Ya'll did a great job, and have to agree dry gloves are the way to go.

Wow, I got them at Sportsman's Warehouse.

Those are $20 and look decent. Glacier gloves appear to be very expensive, but there are lots of knock off. So don't assume that they are all the same.

Damn, now I think I'll have to make myself some dry gloves :D

Wonder if I'll ruin a couple PVC tubes if I try this with a router, vs my dremel....

PacketSniffer - awesome design (with due acknowledgements to Oxyhacker and Airspeed). I picked up the coupler, gloves and inner liners today. Tomorrow I will hunt down the vacuum bands. The grooves were easy to produce with the Dremel - I'll sand them down neatly tomorrow. Got some cold water diving planned this weekend. Can't wait to try this solution to dry hands.

Nah, just go slow! You'll be fine.

MRF, do you think how much is the reasonable price to make a pair of ring with your router?

I was glad that you bought the round "belt" instead of the flat one. With the round one we were able to roll it into place. With a flat one you might not have gotten a good seal.

We now know with my ring system that they don't need to be all the way in to seal. 1/2" should work great.
