It's a lot easier to get the attention you crave by sticking with a Sub, Gucci tracksuit and gold chains. Think about how uncomfortable it will be wearing that CCR all the time. Plus you will have to leave the price tags on it so people will know what it cost and can respect you accordingly. Kinda hard getting in and out of your Rover or Plaid with a CCR on your back versus a luxurious cotton-poly blend tracksuit.

I don’t know what makes you think that i crave for attention, I am certain you don’t know me at all but I can say that how you think about those items you have listed above, simply pathetic.

People mostly do things just because they can, possessing certain properties included. I am sure you can get lot more attention with your personality that I can’t get with a rare Patek.

I don't think he knows what a Patek is... try to keep it 'simple'

Funniest part is, when people declare that others does certain things to grab their “attention” they adamantly state as if their attention worth something to others.

Nobody gives a flying f%€¥ about their attention, people living their lives without even noticing those miserably watching them. Who is caring about other’s attention, other’s opinion or other’s lives is so obvious.

It's pathetic but fun nevertheless. In my experience with different watch forums, the only folks crapping on Rolex are the ones that cannot afford them... the same happens with luxury cars, nice houses, etc.

I understand that there are idiots that would wear a watch only because they want to show off. It happens all of the time but this is also applicable to wearing jewelry, nice clothes, an expensive cellphone, car, etc. However, associating ALL persons that own an expensive piece with that type of behavior is offending to say the least, shows ignorance and a poor education level as well as some lame form of jealousy.

IMO, people can spend their money in whatever they want without needing to justify themselves as long as it is earned and not stolen or borrowed.

Closing, I am a horology lover. I don't diminish any watch brand (except Invicta perhaps and definitely all Chinese fakes). My watches don't wear me, I wear them and I don't need any watch in order to be interesting nor draw attention. It is quite the opposite actually.

As I previously advised to some of the acid folks around here, before crapping on a Submariner, put one on your wrist for a few ours and then we can talk.

Just got my Seiko solar Tuna. Ordered the orange Zuludiver strap and I'm loving the combo. Supposedly the watch has a 10 month reserve when fully charged. No more having to reset the date and time when I go on a dive trip, maybe.

Hello. I got infatuated with scuba diving a couple of months. Still fresh (60 dives, Master diver, Deep diving and Science of Diving certified,...). I am also a big fan of watches and collect them. I have never been interested in Rolex. Too bulky or over rated for me. I buy things that I like not because I can resell them.
Now, for me, there is no real added value in having a diving watch compared to a diving computer. Even less when you wear two diving computers. Am I wrong? Then, the real question of this thread: is it worth buying a Rolex Submariner, the self called ultimate diver watch?

I was toying with this same idea. My wife, knowing that I love buying stupid stuff, pre-empted me by buying me a Tag Huer dive watch for Father's Day a few years ago. This was her way of limitting my spending, I guess. Tag doesn't have quite the namesake of a Rolex but it's arguably a close second. I'll say this, though: I absolutely love this watch and I do set the timer on every dive as a backup. I use the computer or tables to plan the dive so I know BT. I need reading glasses and struggle to see most things up close--can barely read my Perdix 2 without them--but I can still somehow read this watch clear as day under water. Even when the mask fogs, I can still manage to read the watch. I just keep it on my skin and peel back by wetsuit sleeve to read it. I usually don't wear gloves but if I did, I'd have to rethink things. Either way, I absolutely love this watch and I am glad my wife bought it. Otherwise, I would have bought the Rolex and I really do not want to be a "Rolex guy". Tag is worth looking at . . .
