The Rayavadee is nice but not as good as it's cracked up to be and you're locked in to the area unless you're prepared to take a boat ride to Krabi or Ao Nang every night/day.

Phuket is better as you have more choice.

Hey Scuba734,

those pictures are nice....hmm....the roof-less toilet is cool!!!

Is that gonna cost 10,000 to 40,000 baht???

Name of the accomodation is Blue Village??, at Ao Nang??

Cool !!!

=-)

Easy Divers in Ao Nang don't have a website, only an e-mail address for Andy, who's the German manager: andyhameder@yahoo.de

As they share the boat with other centers, you can get a decent idea by looking here: http://www.aonang-divers.com/, the hotel beside Ao Nang Divers is certainly nice and has cheap rooms.

Hey chiara,

that's a pretty useful piece of info.....thanks!!

:D :D

i did a 5 week trip to phuket last year and 2 weeks this year (2 week gap between them) the diving was good but not as good as i thought it would be, to be honest i thought the red sea was better.

there was bad vis due to plankton etc. on a couple of days.

check my photo's

and the links page has a link to marina divers, they are one of if not the biggest on phuket, other dive shops sue their boats, so go to the horses mouth rather thans its butt.

they do short trips and day trips to similans as well.

It all comes down to this.

Krabi is groovy and has toilets with no roofs.
Phuket has some seedy areas (easily avoided) and has access to the Similan Islands. Day trip sites such as the King Cruiser, Shark Point, Anemone Reef are just as easy to reach from Phuket, Krabi or Phi Phi. The Kata/Karon area of Phuket is the best. You can stay in small guesthouses such as SeaView Bungalows for as little as 300 Baht, or luxury resorts for 200 dollars.

Try a liveaboard to Similan. You can get a 4 day trip for only 400 dollars from Phuket.

Diving in Phuket

This is the only correct thing you said about Phuket.

But having a business there explains it all, doesn't it?

I was to both, and Phuket really appalled me.

So you would, I suppose.

hmmm.....doesn't plankton increases the chances of sighting whale sharks??
