Diver missing in Salaberry de Valleyfield | CTV Montreal News
Provincial police are searching the St. Lawrence river for signs of a diver who has gone missing.
The man, in his forties, went to the waters off Salaberry de Valleyfield on Sunday to practice underwater fishing.
The search began around 4 p.m. Sunday after his family reported him missing because he never came home. Officers found his car with his personnel effects parked in a lot near Monseigneur Langlois Blvd., and began searching the river.
Overnight the Surete du Quebec used their helicopter to patrol the river and its banks, and anticipate the aircraft will be used again on Monday. Police are also using patrol boats to examine the shoreline, and their own dive teams will likely go into the water.
Anyone who may have seen the missing man is asked to call 9-1-1.
