I'm aware and notated it vaguely in my last sentence. Xdeep has had their own issues with QC in the past. But I am a big Xdeep fan.Let's be clear though, Kiss is no longer owned by Mike Young and is now owned by the Darkwater Group which also owns X-Deep and Seal drysuits.
Unfortunately the people in charge are also sidewinder fanbois themselves. My concern is that there have been many discussions about safety issues with the sidewinder. Is Patric and the other designers too close to the sw that they're going to actually fix things like the poor flood tolerance or are they going to blow it off? I know they say its a pretty much finalized product and it should be going to market soon, but they've been saying that a while.
A good example of ignoring issues occurred in my sw class with Edd. I have a ton of respect for Edd and have always appreciated his ability to see other viewpoints on things. I have found over the years and especially with the SW, he became more closed-ear. While my class was going on a well known incident occurred in Mexico where the loop hose disconnected from the tower. This was the 3rd or 4th occurrence, not on the same unit and not the same diver. This particular instance was a very well-known, highly respected instructor and instructor examiner. As soon as Edd got the phone calls and text he halted class to talk to whoever was on the other end of the line and his responses were to denigrate the divers for having poor skills and their inability to set up their units correctly. There were several tirades during the class about it, including him saying that in Mexico they just don't know how to dive the unit. He was completely closed minded, something I had never seen from him. So I wonder how closed off the current designers are.
