The whole idea is that when you pressurize your mask, to prevent squeeze, you also automatically pressurize the ear pieces, since they're connected to the mask by tubes with one-way valves. I presume that if you have severe mask squeeze and your mask comes off, there will suddenly be extra pressure on your ears. I would also guess, however, that since the ear seal isn't usually as good as the mask seal, due to hair and other things that break the seal on the ear pieces, that if you have severe mask squeeze, water will seep into the ear pieces and equalize things that way.

Generally speaking though, proper use of the mask is counseled, to avoid potential problems.

To be fair to HMan, in many of his posts, he does mention that he is the inventor of the proear mask

In recent posts, this may indeed be the case. On prior occasions he made NO MENTION AT ALL that he had a vested interest in the ProEar2002. It was only after someone else posted this fact that he actually admitted his involvement with this product.

In addition, on other boards, he simply posts his ProEar promotion, but does not contribute anything else. To me this amounts to little more than spam.

And what's wrong with anecdotal evidence? Most of the opinion on this board is anecdotal in nature.

I have no problem with opinion being presented as opinion. What I DO have a problem with is opinion being presented as unbiased, objective fact, especially with regard to medical matters.

Again, if there is an independent medical review of this product from someone who is NOT associated with or compensated by ProEar2002, I would be more than happy to change my opinion.

Submariner,

In regards to your specific question, a post late last yr from Hman included this link, which may or may not be independent, and, truth be told, does read more like a press release from proear than medical analysis.

Anyway, I don't want to appear as an HMan apologist, so this'll be my last posting regarding his posting style. Everything I wrote on the Proear is based on my own experience with it, and as I said, I have no medical problems with my ears so I am not qualified to offer opinion on whether it works for that or not.

I have made numerous posts on this board singing the praises of the proear, and I have no idea who HMan is......but a HUGE thank you to him!!!!!! If it wasn't for proear I would not be diving almost every weekend, like I have been since I purchased one. I have numberous ear problems and always got an infection every time I entered the water. I have not had one single ear infection or excess water (any water!) in my ears since I've been using the earpro. I don't need any Medical Evidence to know that it works for me.....my ears staying healthy are good enough evidence for me.
