I do not think tec computer was available in 1998 or was very expensive.
Cochran Commander (air and nitrox versions)..... I got one in the early 90's when I started going to recreational limits wreck diving the Great Lakes.

Price couldn't have been too bad then as I was just out of school with my first real job....

One of the first computers advertised to never lock you out.

My best SAC is 6L per min on single or around 8L on twin with 2 stage bottles.
Did I mention that I used table for rec dive or is it your own assumption based on what? I used the same basic dive computer for rec dive since 1996.
6 liters/min is a phenomenally low gas consumption rate for a whole dive, 0.21 cu ft/min

Something that will work and cost so little

In tropical warm water, not against current and physically fit.
I have came across many experienced dive guides in SE Asia with ridiculous SAC.
It is only relative when it comes to SAC and nothing to write home about.

Guys time for the silly question so do you leave the transmitter on the first stage at all time or you take it out after your diving is done ? ( just wondering )

If I removed a hose from the 1st stage, I will replace the O ring on next installation.

do you leave the transmitter on the first stage at all time or you take it out after your diving is done ? ( just wondering )
Not understanding why you would even consider removing the transmitter after each dive? Do you remove the SPG and hose or the 2nd stage regulators?

Every time you remove a fitting the O-ring has to reseat and you're increasing the chances of leaks.

And gaining nothing.

Guys time for the silly question so do you leave the transmitter on the first stage at all time or you take it out after your diving is done ? ( just wondering )
You leave it on, but you close the cylinder valve and purge the regulator.
The transmitter will automatically turn on when it detects pressure, so leaving your regulator pressurized will drain your transmitter battery.
