So, this is sorta how I think my fill-in-the-blank dive briefing would work with my buddy:
We will submerge and stop at 15' feet to perform a bubble check. If we both exchange OK signs at that point we will continue our descent via (free/shotline/whatever) to _____ feet.
From there we will follow ___________ (excursion route) with a depth not exceeding _____ feet to do a (free/shotline/whatever) ascent at 30 FPM to 15', and make a three minute safety stop before surfacing.
If this is an out-and-back dive, we agree to start a return to the ascent point at ____ PSI. The "turn" hand signal will be [demonstrate].
At all times during the dive, we agree that the minimum pressure we'll begin our ascent is (depth * 10) + 300. Example: at 90 fsw, we agree that we'll start our ascent at 1200 PSI (90 * 10) + 300.
If either of us lose sight of each other, we will search in 360 degrees for one minute. If we do not find each other, we will make a controlled ascent to the surface and report that we've lost our buddy.
We both agree that either diver can abort the dive at any time by giving the, "thumbs up" signal for any reason whatsoever, without any second guessing or criticism. If either diver aborts, their buddy will accept the abort and follow them topside, while maintaining their own safety.
We will each verify that our buddy is onboard before the boat leaves the dive site.
The hand signal for OOA is [demonstrate]
The hand singal for low-on-air is [demonstrate]
The hand signal for aborting the dive is [demonstrate]
The hand signal for turning the dive is [demonstrate]
