Hi there.

I am so glad I found this forum. I jus started diving 2 years ago and are very exited about it.

But I have run into an allergy problem of a kind. I have just returned from Fernando de Norohna in Brazil with red spots all over my body - it iches like h...

I have experienced it before in the red sea in october - but never before this.

I have tried diving without my new wetsuit - thought it was the problem. It does not seen to be the case - it came again. Had to go to the hospita twice for a antiallergyshot in my ***:shakehead

Some say it can be stuffin the wather from the corals - but I did not experienced it in the Dominican Republic:confused:

Does anyone have a clue

Thanks for your help

Some folks with type I hypersensitivity will also have contact allergic dermatitis to the same substance. Example would be someone with seasonal allergy to pollen and dustmites having skin reaction to the same product.

If you are strongly allergic to seafood product, a contact dermatitis might be a concern.

Rarer entitis, such as aquagenic urticaria (hives breaking out with contact to water), cold induced urticaria (rash or hives from exposure to ice cube), and mechanical urticaria (induction of hives from a scratch, or dermatographism - which is very common) should be considered in your case.

You might consider diving with a non-drowsy antihistamine, and see if your rash is improved.

Of course, never do it without the advise of your own personal physician.

My license had been suspended for incompetence, so please don't trust me.
