Good point Nick, that's true (BTW, the Yukon Wreck in San Diego can have a lot of flow/surge inside as well).

Good Luck in Cave 1 . . .!

Just remember no SPG checking on the OOAs down there! Actually I was pretty lazy and didn't flip the gauge over my elbow all week. A wetsuit and bare hands will do that to you.

When are you leaving - I'm freezing up here and very jealous.

jan 20th (sat)

Alternately looking forward/anxious :)

I have a bit of claustrophobia so it's gonna be interesting for sure!

The lost line drill will be fun --I must've banged into every pipe, railing, ship's ladder and other projections on the Wreck with my Forehead, before finding the Main Line again:11:

Be aware of the Right Post Shutdown Scenario with concurrent Left Post Roll-Off (the Blue Hands of Death really like setting that one up, and probably so will CLM). And remember, just because a Buddy's Post is shut down, it doesn't necessarily mean you cannot get any usable gas from that post (barring a catastrophic loss). For example if you go OOG, you can always feather/modulate the Right Post Valve to get a breath or two from your Buddy's Long Hose, even if your Buddy had to shut it down because of an inflator hose leak . . .(last resort though is to Buddy Breath with his bungied back-up reg).

Heh, it's definitely going to be a learning experience!
(you are NOT helping much either!)

Approximately 30-45 seconds after a post or reg failure Chris LM will turn all your valves back on. You should have done a flow check by this time "off-on-on" or whatever. If not you will get a finger wagging during debrief. He will not let you swim in the overhead with any valves off - stupid and risky to him.

We had incredibly simple valve / reg failures all week. (right reg and right post mostly) Way easier than AG, also way more realistic.

Also he knows if you have even barely touched the ceiling and this is seriously frowned upon. I touched 2 maybe 3 times in 16 cave dives and that was too many. Look up, look up, look up. The ceiling is your guide to what's happening ahead, not the floor.

A flow check is required after any touching. Also after finishing the tieoff to the mainline (+gas+time then too)

Flow checks I (hope) i can handle, it's the rest :)
