I'm looking at buying a regulator that has a DIN fitting installed, but it says an A-frame is included.

I am a relatively new diver. Should I steer clear of something like this? I don't even really know the difference.

Thank you.

Any specific brand or model?

That could be an adapter: an extra connector you screw on top of the DIN fitting and allows you to use yoke-only tanks. Not something you want to use all the time, but quite convenient if you only use it occasionally.

Or that could be that that regulator model comes in DIN or yoke, that it ships as a DIN, but that the yoke piece is included would you want to swap. That's the best option: any shop should be able to change your reg from DIN to yoke and back for a minimal cost.

Hard to tell without more info.

Fantastic regulator, I always go for Apeks myself but I know 5 people using the legend for various types of diving from ow instructors to trimix instructors. Everyone agrees on this one, sweet reg! I believe if it says it comes with the a-frame it would come set up for yoke, if it comes din - then it should be DIN. What type of diving will you be doing?

Aqualung Legend LX regulator

description:
"The first stage has DIN fitting installed. A-frame fitting is also included."

Does that tell you anymore?

Thanks.

It means originally int converted to din kept the yoke offering both which means you have a choice of two semi permanent fixings to attach the reg to any valve.
This is not a quick adaptor.
acd or similar is garbage.
What does your diving book say
What does the seller say
What is a relatively new diver.

I'm guessing that it's somebody's creative term for a yoke connection.

Then the question becomes is it a screw on adapter to let you go back and forth or the conversion parts to make it into a full time yoke.

What we yanks call a yoke fitting, the brits and others across the pond call an A frame or A clamp. As such, my guess the OP is looking a buying over the internet from a European dealer.

From the description the reg comes as DIN but can be switched over to yoke. It does not sound like a DIN to Yoke adapter is being supplied. As such, if you want yoke it will need to be swapped out by a shop. Only reason to have a shop do it is 1) yokes typically take a shallow thinned walled socket to remove/install ($20 from ScubaTools.com) and 2) it should be properly torqued.
