If you make sure the LP hose that connects the 2nd stage with the 1st stage makes a bend that goes above the water, it is impossible for any water to migrate through the hose from the 2nd stage into the 1st stage.

As long as that bend is in place, you can soak as long as you want.

What he said, I find the faucet on most rinse tanks a convenient place for this.

LOL Yeah that's the point of the titanium but isn't there a filter in the first stage? I wasn't sure if that was titanium too. (I'm not at home so I can't currently just go look at it)
It's sintered brass. It's supposed to get funky, warning you that you've ruined your regs and they must be sent to Key West for disposal.

I was taught to rinse not soak and that is the only way I have ever seen it described. I'm not sure why you would need to soak since you should be rinsing it with fresh water after every dive day.
Dust cap ≠ waterproof or water resistant cap.

My thing on the soaking is that to some small degree you are soaking salty stuff in water that now becomes slightly salty... But I'm sure it's a very good idea as long as you rinse it with new water after.
I've always heard the best way to rinse a reg is while it's still attached to the tank valve (leave air on, I THINK). I've never bothered with that though.

If you send it to me, I will have our technicians install a platinum filter in there for free and I'll even pay for shipping - both ways!

Hey look.... that bridge is for sale again.

I soak to get rid of any dried salt crystals after returning from a dive trip as is it not always possible to do a good rinse after each day of diving, especially with valet ops.

I attach to my 6 cu. ft. tank and soak in a warm water filled bath tub. I also pull back the strain relief covers at the hose ends as salt can get trapped behind them, work the swivels. and purge the second stages under water a few times.

After soaking, I rinse with the hand held shower, purge the second stages to expel any water and hang by the first stage (second stages dangling) to dry. I figure it's worth the small effort it takes after a trip...

I agree that a good soak in your situation makes sense. When I was on my only week long dive trip (Panama), the DM said I need not rinse my stuff after each day. I asked him where the hose was. If there hadn't been one, it all takes a shower with me.
