Things have taken off in all directions from my original question here. So, I am still wondering are any of you interested in a scubaboard dive get together on Sept. 13th or 14th? I plan to make my own dive reservations with Scuba Tech I guess. I don't have a buddy unless my sister wants to dive, or if she is off of work then.

It kind of sounds like FSUgly, and jvievhe might be interested, right?? Genesis, I know you have your own boat, and Krissscuba too, are you two interested in a possible dive??

If any others can definetly dive that weekend please let me know so we can make a plan of when and where to dive. If I do not hear from anyone by this weekend I will be contacting Scuba Tech and setting up my own dive plan.

Just thought that it would be fun to have a Scubaboard Florida Pan Handle gathering.

Diving is my passion and I will be diving in WPB Labor Day weekend, unfortunately I will be working the weekends between those dives and my Destin trip.

Hope everyone else is getting in those dives though that I am missing.

if the weather is reasonable, of course.

We could even do it on my boat, if the number of people is reasonable (I can't handle 20!) :)

Sounds good so far, let's see how many are interested. I will be checking with my sister and brother-in-law, they may be interested. They live in PCB and as far as I know their dive gear is stored in Destin right now at my Dad's Condo. They have been looking for me to come dive with them some time too.

I know what you mean about the weather, when I was in Destin mid July it stormed almost all the weekend. Water was not good that Saturday and then Sunday I did not have time to go out more than to the beach for a swim. Missed slack tide time due to having to wait on the Air conditioner repairman to come to the Condo.

Okay, some of you others lets hear from you. Let's go diving!

How many additional divers can you handle on your boat?

I plan to take my boat out their in the morning,....let me check something. Tides not good, 1:00 A.M.

http://www.dolphinkey.com/tidetables/data_pdf.php?tti=2323

I'll go anyway.

I must have mis-read the tables,..check the link above.

Looks like the tides are 1:00 A.M. on the 13 & 14 of Sept.

Should be ok by boat, vis may ot be great.

I can take 2 additional divers on my boat.

I can easily handle 15 or so on board; the limiting factor on divers is tank space, which is largely determined by the number of dives intended.

If 2, then I can handle 8 total people. If 3, then the realistic maximum is 6 divers (both including myself.) In both cases there will be tanks in the salon, but that's not a big deal - I just bring my car racks to lay them down on/in.

We can make a run out to some of the deeper and "where charter boats won't go" sites (due to travel time more than anything else) if people would like..... That's my usual pattern - the first dive in 110-130' or so, the second around 100, and the third if there is time inshore in the 80ish feet. Or we can stay further inshore and make the first right around 100. Or we can stay REALLY inshore and have a "divefest" if the number of people who want to go is light, and do four in a day by sticking inshore where the water is only 60-80' deep.

The advantage to going further offshore is that the sites get hit less frequently and the water clarity is usually better. Last weekend on the Deborah vis was in the 60' range - pretty good for around here.

Check out th ebelow link,..has lots of other good local links. It is the live web cam at Destin pass and jetties. 9:50 A.M. no boats in the water,..not a good sign, looks like a storm is about to hit

Above local weather link shows Destin weather,..still thunderstorms as far out as they predict. 40 percent chance of rain, vis only 6 miles.

has been pretty strange, and its predicted to remain this way through the weekend.

Not really all that favorable... it has dwindled down to sprinking right now, but earlier it was raining and booming pretty good.
