It’s a great place to go with non-divers. Great beach (at least the north part), Camana bay, fair snorkelling, fun shore dive/dine/drink operations (Macabuca, Eden rock, Lighthouse point.. maybe Cobalt coast if renos are done?). I’d go again with non divers but I would not go for a pure dive trip.

I don't think that Grand Cayman has ever been the best diving. The sister islands were always better.

But as you say it's a great middle-ground for a group that has non-divers and/or want really amazing higher-end food and beverages. It was what attracted us to Grand Cayman in the first place, and eventually resulted in us buying a place here.

Please let me know other places that are still pristine and also those that deteriorated. I am not almost scared to pay and plan a trip around snorkeling and diving. Hawaii's Kahaluu bay is no longer a beginner snorkeling destination - rather a treacherous beach with exposed rocks and no coral. These are the ones that I have returned and noticed. Any more?
Raja Ampat. Out of all the sites I have been to worldwide, Raja Ampat is the top.

Went to GC 3 times last year, a week at the time, for CCR diving.
We dove 360 of the island and I concur with everyone else, diving is simply not good.
Reefs are dead and fish population is far from being impressive.
We mainly go as it is an easy ride from NC and stay at Coconut bay, right beside Makabuka, that has the best conch on the island. There’s amazing dining all around, but indeed very pricy.
In summary, if you are looking for great diving, GC is not your destination.
