The vast majority of regs are chrome plated brass. Brass when exposed to salt water will corrode. That is can be seen by the blue/green build up. If your reg has a dent in it more than likely the bond between the brass and chrome has been compromised and as such water will intrude thus lead to corrosion.

Dent or not your best bet to prevent corrosion is to rinse and dry well.

Yes, you are right, the regulator (apeks fsr) is chromed brass and the brass is visible in the dent ("golden colour").
No way to repair it right?

Short of re-chroming not really. One could put clear fingernail polish on the spot. But at this point I would just rinse and dry well.

Hi guys!
I know this is an old thread . I just wanted to know . Just bought an used first stage FSR from Apeks and just discovered it has a lot of scratches but also chrome is corroded on some parts. Do you think this is bad to use ? Send it back ?
Thx

If you can send it back that’s probably what I would do but if it was very cheap, good rinsing and complete drying before any storage will likely be fine.

Because this is just an "outside" chrome issue ? Just doesn't look pretty right?

I bought it 270€ with an xtx40 Octopus + spg (with 3 hoses) but i just wanted the first stage to go twin tank so if i can sell the xtx40..

I gonna try to ask for some discount because of that as this wasnt shown on pictures and written "like new"

If you can, return that. It is not new, like new or even close.

Look! Up in the sky! It's a bird!
It's a plane!
It's PayPalman!

Yeah so, Paypalman is good, asking for a discount is good, rechroming is less good, calling Apeks is good

Best is if inside is good is getting a discount and getting a free ring from Apeks as their chrome has failed

The seller is an Arse

Just bought an used first stage FSR from Apeks

Did you or are we lost in translation?

Example:
