Hi.

Just had my Scubapro G500 serviced. I pick it up and look it over and as I'm rolling it around I hear the demand lever tapping against the plastic center piece of the diaphragm. Should the demand lever be lose in this way?

Thanks.

The seat saver feature will leave the lever loose unless it is under pressure.

Thanks, AWAP. Just had my tank hydroed...when I pick it up in a couple days I'll pressure up my G500 and see if the clicking disappears.

Hi AWAP,

Still rattling after I pressure up the G500. Perhaps not the demand lever? None of my other regs--all Scubapro--rattle in this way.

Well, time to pull the cover off and take a look. I just took a look at my G500. With the air off, the lever looks to sit about 1mm above the rim of the case. Under pressure, the lever comes up to about 2mm above the rim. The difference is not big but easily observed.

If yours is below that range, it may not have enough spring tension set on the user adjustment end. You should be able to back off a turn or more on the orifice and turn the balance chamber adjustment in till it is almost flush with the balance chamber piston. Then retune it. I like to adjust the orifice until it seals and then just a bit tighter. Then I loosen the spring tension on the balance chamber adjustment until it hiss and then the other way until it just stops.

I can't speak to the scubapro reg specifically but I can speak to the idea of hearing the lever tap against the diaphragm. Mares regs are specifically set up this way in accordance with the Mares adjustment procedure so the concept is sound. Again though, I don't know about your reg specifically.
