Hi guys, I am in need of part #1000-25 from the parts list for this regulator. It is # 16 in the key and is just called a pin. I don't know if I can make one as specifics are hard to come by.to come by. I don`t want to have to buy a complete double hose to get this tiny part. Anybody got one or know where to get one? I`ve reached out to Bryan from VDH and he suggested the forums. Thanks for any help out there!

That one is going to be a little hard to find, most of us don't have spares. I would suggest you asking on VDH as a lot of those guys don't come here much. If anyone has them, it will likely be them. The pin has a small head, is slightly pointed at the other end and is a fairly hard material so making one while possible is not the easiest thing. I can think I have one out so I could measure it if that will help. Your other option is to replace the first stage with a Cyclone.

If Herman doesn't have it handy, mine is still apart, I'll measure it in a couple minutes. You should be able to trim a Conshelf pin to fit. I'd chuck it in a drill to spin it against a file or grinder to set the point and fine tune the length.

Yep.. I'm impatient. 8.95mm by my calipers. 20191117_080601.jpg

I've converted all of my DA & Royals to either Phoenix or Cyclone firsts, and have all the old parts somewhere here. Bryan had said something of one having been cut down (he did my first one for me), but when I did the others after that, I really couldn't say if the others had been modified. If anyone has the proper length measurement, I could see if I could locate mine, and measure them.

I'll start looking....

Hey James, if you could get another pic and give me the length of the head I would appreciate that. Plus the amount of stepdown for the head. Oh, if you plan on removing the big ring to get at the gasket, I made a very effective tool out of an old pair of pliers. Notched the handles to fit the slots and use the wrenchPICT0011.JPG PICT0012.JPG PICT0013.JPG to break it loose.

Plus I have a small bench lathe so I can make one.(I had a dental lab for 30 years)

Will do after church ( couple hours), and thanks for the heads up on the plier tool. Mine was hand tight! But Ill need to tighten it better than that when it goes back together.

The length of the head is not critical (the overall length IS) as long as it stays in the pin pad. It serves to keep the pin centered. The head diameter is not critical, it should just easily slide into the pin support. A Conshelf pin would be perfect to cut down. The easiest way to cut them is with a dremel tool and a cutoff wheel. Don't try to use any kind of nippers, the pin is hard and you will at best make a mess of it.
