This is my first time in Cozumel, and I am having a very different experience.

Having read this thread I was wary, so when I was dragging all my gear through the rain off the ferry, i asked the first taxi the rate to Villa Aldora. He replied 200 peso, I repeated Villa Aldora as if he didn't hear me and he said ahh Villa Aldora 100 pesos.
Since then it has been 100 pesos from anywhere downtown including dripping wet post dive with an equally wet bag of gear.
I usually tip them 20 pesos or a $1.50 Canadian. I don't take taxis at home but this seems very reasonable.

Of course there is always the Villa's fleet of bicycles, for a high performance cycle into town.

Looks like some are charging 100 pesos per zone now? The govt regulated rate is around 70 pesos I think?

To each his own...I guess!

It used to be $75p from Villa to town now it is $100 my last trip. I used to give $75 plus 25p tip now I give $100p and no tip. No complaints from any taxi's drivers last trip for 21 days in Dec. So no change from my perspective.

Does anyone know if the rates listed on the link below are still current? This is from a January of 2024 post.

Thank you

This is what I do now. I don't bother negotiating but I also don't tip.

Anyone know what the rate from the airport to Hotel Cozumel would be? I can't read these rate charts to save my life, especially when I don't have a great grasp of where everything is

You won't find a taxi rate specifically from the airport to anywhere.

The regulated taxi rate would be 1 zone which is around 75 pesos to Hotel Coz from Diegos Tacos. The actual Bend Over Rate that you will pay will be atleast 200 - 300 pesos. Return rate to airport will be even higher.
