Does the crotch strap help with side to side shift as well?
If adjusted properly, it minimizes any shift in any direction. There should be a slight downward vee when you tighten your waistbelt. The more intense the v, the more it cinches the entire backplate to your body.
 
Does the crotch strap help with side to side shift as well? I have both problems now after losing 10 pounds and diving without a wetsuit because I found I was overheating in one in 84 degree water even diving down to 85 feet. I have a Scubapro Lady Bella I've been very happy with until now.
Yes, a crotch strap will help with the wobbles but you might want to look into a parachute type harness instead.
