Tomorrow at 10 AM I will of my own free will jump into a local quarry with the outside temperature at a toasty 28 degrees F. The crazy thing is there are others like me doing the same thing. Fortunately the temps have been warm enough the last few days to have thawed the ice layer that was on the water. Are divers missing a gene or does breathing air under pressure diminish cognitive reasoning or something? I do have a cold water reg and will be wearing a dry suit but still.... start the new year off right I guess.

Does anyone else have crazy diving plans for the new year? If not what do you think of my plan?:coffee:

Supposed to get up to mid fifties today but the water temp at our quarry will be about 48. I have an 8 mm semidry and I will probly freeze my arse off but I'm really looking forward to my new years dive. Just three weeks ago I was diving in 82 water in Aruba...

We were out on a boat all day today. The temperature, driving to the dive site, was 19 degrees. The water was 47. The sky was clear and the sun was out, the viz was great, and we had an extraordinary day.

We are ALL crazy.

I was supposed to do a midnight dive last night at the local quarry, but it was canceled due to the weather (thunderstorm) & being the only one who showed up. The temps last night were in the upper 50's & this morning are in the 40's for a high (dropping throughout the day) today. I'm going to dive today instead. I don't particularly care for cold weather/ water diving, but my gills are drying out & shriveling up. I need to get wet in a bad way! I have found some ways to make cold water/ weather diving a bit more tolerable. 1. Dive Dry! much more comfy overall. 2. I bring a portable propane heater to put in the dressing rooms. It doesn't usually get toasty, but it does knock the chill off. 3. Bring something warm to drink after/ between the dives. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I usually bring hot water & make some hot chocolate. That helps warm you from the inside. Then there's always the the other alternative,..... Go south, waaaaay south to dive.:D

:cold: + =

Maybe after winning the lotto I'll buy a drysuit...or an airplane that can take me south, way way south. :D

If I win the lottery ($290 millions today) I'll bring the ocean up here.

I like your plan. If I don't win I hope you win because I would love for you to bring the ocean to Ohio please pay the extra and bring the warm weather along with the ocean. After you win the lottery your new friends such as myself will be crawling out of the wood work so will you please let your new friend dive in your ocean?

Going out Sunday. Will have to pull out the sun screen they forecast sunny with a high of 81......

Might have to even bring out the wet suit....... Good luck in the quarry

Man diving is an addiction like any other. Like alcohol Like Drugs it consumes your life. Weather, distance, money really dont matter if you get to go diving.
