In the pool at 16 lbs. that was at the hotel's pool, so it's not like I can drive back 5 hours for an addition 4 or 5 lbs. of weight. Again 16 lbs. was all I had at that time. So when I went into the ocean off the beach 16 lbs. was not enough. Oh but why didn't you add some more? Again, 16 lbs. was all I had at that time.

I passed the reactivate class with no problem. When you're a beginner it's hard to recall every factor that may affect trim and buoyancy. This is why websites like Scubaboard exist, so that people can ask questions just in case they are overlooking something or just in case they forgot to point something out.

I'm assuming you're experienced therefore these matters will occur to you immediately, but it's different for a beginner. As a beginner, it's hard to recall everything. That takes time, just like how it took you time when you were a beginner.

In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned that apparently I gain some weight since last time. I didn't realize that until I came home. That would mean that I would need even more weight than I thought right?
Right.

Let's summarize. The pool with 12 lbs. was not the same pool that had 16 lbs, therefore I didn't go "back to the pool." Don't complicate this. It wasn't even at the same time. The pool with 16 lbs. was at the hotel I was staying at. That was all the weight I had. I can't pull additional weights out of my butt, therefore 16 lbs. was all I had.

I think I've explained myself sufficiently.
How many dives had you done prior to stopping in 1997? When was your original certification?

Sorry for coming on too strong. It’s just that there seems to have been a significant lapse in terms of applying your training to the situation. In addition, I think the shop you did your reactive with did you a disservice if they didn’t try to convince you to do a full recertification. Or at the very least doing the knowledge development and then the confined water portion.

There really wasn’t any sense in getting into the ocean if you used all the weight you had just to get properly weighted in freshwater. Your only option at that point would be to figure out a way to get a few more pounds of weight or to dive without a wetsuit and se me if that worked.

I’m still unsure of where your buddy was, but you don’t seem to want to answer that question so I’ll let it go.
