Would it be just too crazy to plan a dive trip during this time? It would be fun to watch this event however I wouldn't enjoy Coz if it was super crowded. Does anyone have an idea on how big this is really going to be? How many participants/visitors etc?
Thanks-Jean

The event is scheduled for 11/26-30 and I'm sure the turnout will be huge on race day Sunday the 29th as most locals are off work. Tourism figures 1500-2000 people will be coming to the island -- this estimate seems to include the officials, the competitors and their friends and families. This is fewer people than most of the cruise ships bring each day but will fill some of the hotels -- should be nice as long as you don't run into road closures! Official hotels are El Presidente, Fiesta Americana, Wyndham, El Cozumeleno & Melia.

Thanks for the info- 1500-2000 won't be too overwhelming. Road closures OK as long as they don't close down "the pool" to divers!! I have watched the Ironman on TV and just thought it would be cool to actually see the athletes compete.
Thanks again-Jean
