*Sigh* I thought we had you convinced to do Casa Denis in the other thread...oh well.

Conchita del Caribe is only open for lunch which is why I never got a chance to try it last week but I got 2 recomendations from locals and another by a guy who was on a 2 month DM internship. You might want to give it a try.

Ditto on Conchita del Caribe. The cerveche is outstanding. Can't wait for May to get here!

James Goddard:
Actually I did it on my first night on the last trip. It was raining and it was the closest place after the cabbie droped me off. As many people have said it's a great place to people watch so for the first night it makes sense, sit back have a beer and a good meal and ease into the Cozumel flow :)

You already have El Morrow on your list. Everybody I've talked to said it is great. I've never managed to find it though. I hear it's pretty far back.

James

James you owe it to yourself to go. Taxi drivers all know where it is. Ask for Ray. He is the owners son and is a great guy. He always seems to remember us and remembers that we come for the Zacharias Especial. He is the one who suggested it to us. Great for two. So much food your going to have a difficult time finishing. Especially with the home made chips, hand rolled flower tortias......ummmmmmm. Can't wait myself!

It's on my TODO list. Last trip I was out by myself because the wife is pregnant at the moment so it was dive, dive, dive and food was a lower priority. Next trip....

I agree; the food on the Zachariah platter is very good and plentiful, but what some cab drivers don't know (or may claim not to know once you are there) is that El Moro is closed on Thursdays.

The spinoff restaurant, Los Moros del Morritos, is also very good, and is off in another section of the back areas of San Miguel. I don't know if there are any days that they are closed.

Hope this gets to you before you leave. Amber is run by an Italian family that has been on Coz at least 15yrs. The seating inside is limited to small groups but in the back is a beautiful courtyard with grass, trees, vines, etc.. It is very chic setting, picture W Hotel meets Coz. Food is great with reasonable portions. My wife’s first impression was “Romantic” with which I have to agree, but it would also be great for a group. All the pasta is made from scratch and you can tell.

My wife says that I am the last person in the world to consult regarding culinary matters, but...we enjoyed both the above places, which are on the ocean side of the main drag between PLG and Barracuda Hotels. Both are cheap, and good.
