Ok, i started the other thread and I appreciate all the restaurant ideas along with the links to other sites. I've got 4 to feed along with keeping my wife from going berzerk spending money in the square. So, in terms of evening meals at casual, inexpensive restaurants heres what i've come up with (family is fairly picky also as to what they prefer, too much time in Oklahoma): Casa Denis, Chilangos (yellow building by baseball field???), Kelly's (10th ave between salas adn 1st), Especias, Diamond Cafe, Senor Bobs Patio, Plaza Leza and Coffelia. Realistically we'll probably only eat at 3-4 of these so help me narrow it down. I'm really looking for a low key, relaxed, very casual atmosphere. Fancy restaurants aren't at all necessary. Almost kind of like a tavern/eatery type place where we can all eat and my wife and I can have a few drinks. Thanks in advance. GT2003

La Choza fills that bill; try their fish in mustard sauce, it's one of my faves. Also Sonora Grill; they do octopus right.

El Pique across from san francisco food store. open 7pm till midnight great taco's and bean soup and oooohhh! so cheap- give your wallet a break one night and pig out cheap.

Do they have tables to sit down.or is it a take out place?
I like the idea of giving the wallet a break one night..

Dump Prima and go to AMBER. Better food, better setting, a little more money.

Can you tell me more about Amber?

La Cocay is still my favorite...it's a bit more money then some places in Coz....but the food is sooooo worth it.

I almost forgot to add.....their Chocolate Soufflé is unbelievably, amazing!

Peace,
Cathie

LaChoza is still my favorite. I like the native ambiance and excellent food. I can get fancy in Houston. Across the street and down the block about halfway, next door to Caballito del Caribe is a cool place called Perillo's. Their flaming desserts are amazing!

OK so add La Cocay and La Choza..gee just what I thought I was close to done.. I need more days!!..Flaming desserts..not what I need.. I'll leave that one out! LoL

You got to try it for the $$ you can not go wrong. You may have to point at the menu on the wall to get what you want and tell them the # in spanish if you can. They are pretty good at #'s in english, it is a GOOD place.Natasha try it if you do not like it I will cover your tab!
