hey Dee!!! South Texas here in a pickup. The raised finger is a great "hello"

Hope I sent this one right I am still new here lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yea...and it doesn't matter which finger! We're raising it to them in salute, not waving it at them!!!

CC...you're doing jsut fine!

Cattle or no cattle, back or front entry, head or no head, I'd love it. My water is 34 o F and 10-15ft viz, drysuit with 40lbs of lead. I wouldn't care if it was standing room only on the boat! I'd gear up on shore if I could dive in those waters - it would feel like diving naked - now there's a great visual as I see snow flakes falling outside... Every diver would be my friend cause I couldn't stop smiling thinking about the diving. Just pick a lot of "Cup Half Full" divers to go with, and for the others..there's enough ocean and fish to spread around...

Tinman - You are my kind of diver! Raise your half full glass to all the optimists in the world!

I have been reading this thread, and I came really close to calling my travel company and telling them "Change everything!". I will be in Coz (diving with Dive Paradise), and started to think of the negatives of larger boats. Then Tinman's optimism reminded me that any boat is probably a little-wee-bit better than diving in my bathtub. Large boat, small boat, whatevah...

I'm very good friends with Renee Applegate the owner of Dive Paradise. I was with her again at Dema last month, and will always use her company when diving in Cozumel.
You probaly won't get to see her, but if you do have any problems while you are down there, find her in the main office by the Navy station. She will always try to make everyone as happy as she can.

I remeber Cozumel when there was only one hotel on the entire island. Now adays it as dam mess with cruise ships and all that commercial crap brought in from the west. Back than $1300 Canadian got you 21 days all inclusive air/hotel/food and two dives a day at Hotel Cozumel Caribe.

I feel, hear, and see what you're saying. I have been in Coz a couple of times and was thinking about going somewhere else but the price I got was unresistable that I couldn't say no.

The only thing I really don't like too much is when too many cruiseships come in on the same day. One a day or even two may not be so bad; but I have seen 7 in one day:confused:

Thats when you take a ride to the other side of the Island or take the jet boat to Playa Del Carmen/ or Tulum for the day of something different:out:

Operators is that you will get personal service as compared to the "cattle boats" not to mention that you will also be more likely to get to choose your dive locations. Lots of the big operators are reluctant to take you to some of the "extreme" dive locations.

Put me down for the small boats, too. One time, and one time only, did I go out on a catt... larger boat,. It was diving, so it beat staying ashore, but that's all I have to say positive about it. YMMV, but it's not for me.

BTW, I mostly dive with Cozumel Equalizers when I'm on Cozumel, and I like them a lot.

I'll be there a week from tomorrow; I'm almost to the point where I'm counting hours instead of days...

When was that? My first trip there was in 1978, and there were several hotels there then, though not as many as now. Playa Bonita was the Naked Turtle, you could snorkel in the lagoon at Chankanaab (there was just a little choose-your-fish seafood restaurant there where the road ran between the lagoon and the Caribbean), and one could legally take lobster and conch in the waters off the south end.

Now we have Puta Langosta. Need I say more?
