Oh yeah guys guess what happened in Coron? I FORGOT MY WING! i was so pissed off with myself and was scared to rent a jacket bc, was even willing to dive vintage and just use my BP. thanks god Gunter had a spare dive rite wing. how ironic is that?
sorry for rimming you about it bro. It was funny at the time... :)

BTW guys, I was just thinking, what wreck qualifications do you guys have? and you were doing these on single tanks right (w/ deco tank)? I remember the cargo holds were huge and can't really be called penetration, but after reading chip's report, seems you guys were getting into some deep penetration. just curious...

edit: were you guys on doubles?
edit2: or had previous overhead experience...

We were with an instructor.

Edit: We weren;t using doubles but did have a slung bottle. The pic I posted before, replicated here for ease of reference, shows it on the left side.

when me and chip were alone we went serious penetration. tight cracks and galleys but always making sure to have the light zone nearby.

no doubles and yes i have had prior overhead experience.

i was second to the last so i had like 10 divers in front of me silt the bottom of the cavern . water went from gin to like caffe mocha in an instant. i remembered John chatterton closing his eyes and doing the exit on memory alone. couldnt find the line becasue someone tugged on it instead of doing the ok ring along the line. i couldnt even see chips ligh and he was like a bodylength in front of me.
With regards to diving safety, did the silt out in this particular environment pose a safety hazard? Can't imagine myself diving in an overhead environment (not yet) let alone a sil-out situation.

if this was a bigger cavern then it would have been a big problem. since the way to the exit was just a 75 foot passageway followed by a 45 deg. left turn there was no way to go but out and swimming along this turn lead into the light zone. i wasnt worried since it was a short distance. one or two on the non-ppders flipped out in this section according to chip.

thats why iam getting additional training for environments like this. its like your in a snowstorm and people literally freeze to death 10 feet away from camp. its much worse underwater.

Ey Spooniie...

Is the barracuda lake dive a standard part of the discovery divers package? Let's say it's not necessarily a part of our package, is it worth to ask for it or say pay additional for that dive? Ok lang for the experience or something more???

ishbaby:
I think it is part of the package.

OUr teamleader said the choices are open. I have no prob with the lake, just wondering if there are better sites than that so we can ask for a switch. Or is it a matter of someone asking us: "hu-whaaat? you went diving Coron and you didn't dive barracuda lake? oh whata shame... blah, blah, "

It is part of it. its a must but im telling you its no walk in the park. best get lots of excercise and leg workouts before heading to coron. several non-ppders in the trip got sore backs due to the extreme trek to access the dive site.
