I only change my wing when the volume of gas I'll be using changes. I change my weighting to compensate for the change in boyancy from thermal protection to balance the rig,

ps. It doesn't matter, to YOU, because you are diving a way bigger wing than you need in some scenarios.

One follow-up question: The wing doesn't come with an LPI hose, right? Given I don't have one at my reg (Atomic M1), I assume I would buy that separately. What length do you guys use with the DSS wings?

the DSS rigs come with an appropriate length LPI. It is much shorter than you are likely to be used to, but it is the appropriate length for a single tank regulator

Perfect, thanks!

[16 pages later] I think you are going to love the DSS SS BP and Torus 26 rig. You probably won't ever care about getting anything else for single tank use. Next thing will be what doubles wing to get. :-)

Congratulations in advance on your new rig!

You and @tbone1004 got me to the point where I would not rule that out :) Will do some drysuit diving with rental BCDs and then see what I'll do.

Congratulations in advance on your new rig!
Thank you! Really appreciate all your input and help on the way!

When I started diving doubles a bit over a year ago, I was heard to say that I would dive them when needed, but would still always choose to dive single tanks when I could (i.e. normal recreational dives). But, other than a week in Hawaii renting tanks, I have not dived a single tank in over a year, I think. I recently did 2 days on a recreational charter diving wrecks in NC and a few weeks later 2 days on a recreational charter diving wrecks in NJ. I absolutely could have taken my single tanks and used them. But I did not. Having all that extra gas and a redundant 1st stage setup is nice. As is not having to change tanks on a rockin' boat in between dives. And carrying a set of doubles to and from the boat by having them already mounted on the BP/W and just wearing it like a backpack is easier than carrying two single tanks by hand.

You'll see. :-)
