You’ll have to ask the OP if the points you made are valid for his diving, only he can answer that. I certainly can’t.
And if those points are valid to the OP, are DIN regs the better choice or are yoke regs the better choice?

For those who are curious, I'll be diving DIN for my doubles, as I do with my other regs. As a wreck diver I appreciate the lower profile design when going into tight environment with snag hazards. The captured o-ring and higher pressure ratings to me all seem like advantages, in spite of yoke's overall performance record in the dive industry.

Any tech diver who deliberately chooses yoke needs to have his head examined. Guess you’d want to be a freak. Bet your instructor would laugh you out of class. There’s just no good reason for yoke.

The pot is calling the kettle black.

Definitely considering the D3 / Zenith doubles package for $825. House routing on the D3 is solid even without the bottom port?

It has a bottom port. The photo on the website just doesn't show it so you can see the pretty logo.

If there is one thing that should be taken away from this thread, it's that people should ignore mac's comments if they're looking for answers. He's an outlier in his ideas and really likes to push them under the guise of "it's a free world, do what you want." He will never admit to understanding that his remarks could potentially be dangerous to a new technical diver. It's great he's had a great dive career and hasn't offed himself doing it yet. But that doesn't make his points relevant or good. This is a repetitive thing you'll see from him from multiple threads

Would be nice if we had a banner that would pop up at the bottom of posts that read "Warning, This Advice Does Not Follow The General Consensus....."... every post should have a vote to escalate to the status...after 10 votes it would be escalated to a mod. The poster can't see it, but others can.

It's probably not politically correct at all.

Or we could just tell people to not follow random guidance on the internet and get proper training:)

Fwiw I like reading the back and forth between everyone and mac. I don't view his way of diving as wrong, just maybe not the best? I do think it's nice to have someone approach things from a different perspective, even if it's not something I would choose to do. And it always makes me laugh how hard you all go back and forth!

I agree that different perspectives and discussion is good, but I don't think deliberately disruptive trolling is anything but destructive. Since he in post #36 claims that " there.s no such thing as tech.", in the subforum dedicated to Technical Diving, I don't think his contribution to this and many other threads can be seen as much more than that.

But that's part of the internet? Right or wrong, it's a thing.

His point is to get you riled up, you're point is to prove him wrong (for which he doesn't seem to care). It might not be constructive at all but at the very least those of us that try not to take the internet too seriously find it comical. The more everyone tries to prove him wrong the more he posts... it's actually pretty funny to watch it all wind up and unfold.

And I don't mean that in a disrespectful way at all... I think it's great that people are so passionate about their beliefs.. anyone following this can read between the lines and figure it out for themselves. No one is showing up to a tech class anytime soon with yoke regs, or at the very least they won't use them long. If you take one mans word for it on an internet forum you probably won't make it in diving.
