Sorry mattdust

Sinus Happens

Roll with the punches
When that happens to me on vacation, and I cannot dive, I take up margaritas for sport

Don't risk injuring yourself, there is plenty of ocean and time for more diving
I have been diving with people in their 90s
I wanna still be diving when I'm 90, not permanently side-lined from a sinus injury

The Op is a bit young for margaritas atm but I agree with the rest of your sentiments.

Even if it only puts you out a few days, skipping dives while congested is probably worth it. The ocean will still be there.

Dive congested = pain and possible serious consequences ie barotruama which means a high likelyhood that the rest of your trip and possibly a lot more spent in hospital/visiting doctors.
Skip diving congested = days sight seeing , possible return to diving in a couple of days and an otherwise enjoyable holiday.

I know which most people would pick.

All good advice....only thing I'd add is this: Be leery of throwing your mask in the communal dunk bucket on the boat and the same for communal gear wash tub at the dock. Find a water hose to wash off your gear instead once you arrive back at the dock.
