Hey all, just registered with the forum. I searched all over the net and forums and cannot find any ideas for protecting my AI transmitter. I've seen 1 photo on google of one wrapped in neoprene with zip-ties. I have mine on a 6" miflex carbon hose so that dingbats dont lift my gear by it and damage it. But I want to further add some protection in case it gets bumps and bruises. So far all I can come up with is either scrap neoprene or maybe a piece of bicycle tubing.

Any Ideas? Pics of your protection?

Thanks,

IMO, while they certainly aren't the most robust piece of equipment a diver could have they are as robust as a hosed computer or even a modern plastic reg. Hard gear is going to get scuffed and scratched, hard to avoid it, but some sort of cover would help for cosmetic concerns.

I think the biggest concern is someone lifting a tank by the transmitter. I didn't put mine on a short hose, but I did slap a plastic "DO NOT LIFT" label on it. Most of my diving is private and it's rare for anyone to touch my gear, YMMV.

Huh. I use my sending unit when I can't find a hammer.

Still works great.

Im not really worried about cosmetic damage, just being cautious of it. I have it on a 6" carbon myflex at the moment so its not there for a deckhand to yank my setup by it. I guess that alone should be enough protection. Thanks for the input.
