I see the OP/video as a public service effort. If you actually follow the steps laid out and ruin your mask you should not be involved with scuba diving.

Based on the fact that more than one of us missed the joke, and more than one of the comments on TY missed it as well I would say future clients that see the video will surely be limited to those that only fit your criteria for participation. Could be why I'm not in marketing, however.

The fact that I'm too stupid to recognize the joke, you say that I shouldn't be diving?

So no, unless you went as far as doing that to your mask...

And I don't believe anyone was stupid for not recognizing it, I think they didn't pay close attention to it. Big difference.

Thanks. I plan to make more... If I was trying to manipulate, coerce, or harm someone, then taking it down would be acceptable... since I'm trying to get people to smile and chuckle, and it has to be obvious, that it's satire.

Not funny. Wasting my time!

Slow time in your dive shop?

I think such thread is in the wrong forum. It should be posted in Humor, Games, Clips, Yarns and Tales.

I may be mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the OP is satire...

My satire reply was removed from this thread by the moderator for being "off topic". So, even the moderator didn't get this not funny joke.

It's not surprising that even a mod missed the joke. Who could bother watching yet another "the best way to prep your mask" commentary?

Being a noob I did watch it. I'm certain that nobody on this forum would do that to their mask.

I was just trying to roll with the OP's attempted humor. Didn't mean to offend anyone. I'll excuse myself from the thread and hope to avoid similar misunderstandings in the future.

I did get the satire but the mods don't edit for content. The thread became usefully informative starting with the second post. At that time I deemed that the community did a good job of editing for content. That is how it works here. I then edited a long list of posts that were off topic satirical responses. That is because the thread had become valuable. If I had deleted the first post it would have deleted the thread. It is a judgement call but the one I was comfortable with. I hope you found useful information in the thread and I hope we can keep it positive and friendly.

The video wasn't funny?

I'm an independent dive instructor. I don't work for a dive shop. I've been an instructor since 2008. I teach and dive because I love it.

Life is not a forum... There's not enough time to compartmentalize...

thanks for leaving it up! if it made you smile AND anyone that was looking for information on mask cleaning and prep happen to coincide, then the community benefited.

May be I'm missing something, but my masks have never seemed to need any cleaning. I heard about initial cleaning a mask in 1980 and tried it once, it didn't seem to change anything as I have not had a fogging problem before or since. I have a routine of ringing the mask, using a spit defog, and a quick rinse then put it on. I can count on one hand the dives with fogging.

Has anyone had any luck without the cleaning?
