Hello Divers,

I want to buy a Citizen Promaster diving watch as a backup to my diving computer.

Which Promaster watch should I go for?

I'm thinking about the Promaster Aquamount JP3040-59E, or maybe the following Aqualands: JP1060-01W, JP1060-01L, JP1010-00E.

Which one to chose? :(

Any one any experience with citizen watches?

Many thanks,
Stefan

Hello, sorry I do wear a Promaster, but an Analog one - without lcd/computer parts. (see attached)

A couple of the local instructors have the JP1010-00E, and have done for a while.

Best thing to do is go to the shop and try them on and find the one that fits.

Sorry.

Many thanks :)

I will have a look at the JP1010-00E or the JP3040-59E.

Not sure if it should take a plastic wristband (better for diving?) or a metall wristband.

Those are two good choices, I like the aqualand duplex with a metal band, I am wearing one now. I also like the hyper aqualand for a backup.

I would go for plastic/rubber strap, as you can slighty over tighten it while on the surface (as the ribbed parts stretch), as that way when you wetsuit shrinks when you go deeper, it will still be firmly on your wrist.

Also it won't chaff your wetsuit like perhaps a metal strap might (I can't attest to a metal one chaffing)

Just back from a trip to the Maldives and found very cheap citizen promaster watches at the duty free.

I got a JP1010-00E, nice :)

I guess that you have already sold yourself on the promaster series. I have, over the past few years, acquired two citizens promasters as computer back ups. However, I am going to spend part of my tax return on the Suunto D6, Stinger or maybe even the mosqutio. Look at what you get for the money compared to any of the promasters. Dont get me wrong, the promasters are great watches and look pretty cool too. Overall I dont thnk you would be dissatisfied with any of them.
