Man it's a supermarket advertising sign from the 60s about 1200 by 2200
and it's going right up there in the main room despite what anyone says

Any idea why Jacques Cousteau has his double hose regulator in front?

With it placed that way exhaling takes effort, but it effectively "feeds" you air for the inhale. I don't remember the reference, but I heard he preferred those characteristics in his later years due to a lung condition.

I don't know the background on your image but the chest mounted "push-pull" regulator in the image below was used on the Conshelf III experimental saturation dive in 1965 at 102.4m/336'. It recycled HeO2 back in the habitat for reprocessing. Notice the supply and return hoses in his left hand.

WOB is probably a little better in this position but bubble management would suck.
 
Diving is sexy…
... especially if you're using an old-school chromed brass reg (e.g., a U.S. Divers Conshelf XIV, a Scubapro 109/156, a metal Poseidon Cyklon, etc.) or a double hose reg.

She still needs a depth gauge, though.

And she needs to be cautioned about wearing shiny jewelry that might attract some fish (like barracuda).
