I just started certification at a local dive shop. They do SDI/TDI cert. I didn't know that there are so many diff. orgs that do this. This dive shop has been here for many many years. They used to be a PADI cert. center. Now do SDI/TDI. Of course they say it's a better course, but.....

I have done my class & pool, still need to do open water. I am going to Isla de Margarita in Venezulea in 2 weeks, In looking at places (dive centers) on the net I am wondering if my SDI is good? Some of the sites don't list SDI/TDI as vaid cert.

Have I made a mistake???

I don't think you've made a mistake. SDI/TDI is well known.
I have heard of some remote places not having heard of some agencys.
If you're checking dive centers out on the web, They probably have links for e-mail. If not at least a phone number. Why don't you ask them?

The Outfit that I cetified with has changed from SSI to SDI/TDI.

Check things out before you go, Have a great trip, and enjoy your Open Water Dives.

BTW we'll be expecting a trip report when you get back!

Best of luck to you!
