When you travel internationally, TM throttles your bandwidth. Easy peasy. No need for advanced foresight or any other fancy prognostication tools.

TM has always been forced to "appear" revolutionary primarily because their coverage sucks.

I was in Puebla last week and there wasn't much on TV so I steamed Netflix from my phone to the TV. Didn't notice any throttling. Also I didn't have to worry about data caps with a 7G tethering allotment.
I have a coworker who has used 27G so far this month and he realizes that they can begin throttling above 25G but so far he hasn't noticed it actually kick in

I see, so it's specifically traveling internationally.

I'm a user are you or are you just repeating hearsay? My personal experience is I've used it extensively in a ton of countries, can't say I've had any issues, however I'm not downloading porn or watching TV on it, just using google maps, yelp, airline aps, email etc... have also had zero problems with coverage.

You streamed Netflix from Mexico. On your phone. Go ahead explain how you beat geolocation. Just curious...

I have used VPN in the past but do not have a current subscription but I thought I would try a Netflix produced show as a test and it seem to stream without problem. This fall when I do my normal 11 days a month on the island I will probably re-subscribe to a VPN for streaming and torrents.

A netflix produced show? Seriously? You watched a Netflix produced show to test TM throughput? This is too funny. I just watched a 4K movie on my own server on my 100G network. Worked great. Proves fark all.

VPNs? Netflix getting too smart for that. You have to use a fake DNS server if you want a chance of faking Netflix in the future. Also VPNs slow down video - forget TM's crappy throughput.

This conversation reminds of an old joke.

TMobile just introduced unlimited data. Both of their customers are thrilled.

Gotta love a good old cell carrier argument! Almost as good as politics in an election year.
Oh, and love t-mobile, used them effortlessly in coz and Canada, no apparent throttling, as well as great coverage all up and down West coast in all those big cities and countryside. Verizon screwed me over years ago and I haven't looked back nor needed to.
OK, now I have a dog in this fight.... Lol.

Oh and just to keep it interesting and stimulating, look into the one plus two phones, or the upcoming one plus three phones. Among the features are dual Sim, for about 50% less than the other flagship phones. They come unlocked, and rooting does not affect warranty.
