Has anyone used parts from here:

1/4" F NPT x JIC Elbow - North Shore Compressor Store

These are the 1/4 F NPT x JIC elbows that I need to re-route some of my cascade. Looks like this might be what the prior owner used to build the cascade system. Rated at 6000PSI - but I wasnt sure about the zinc plated steel?

Has anyone used these and can you recommend them?

I have not used these exact fittings from them, but I have used their fittings for my entire fill panel. No problems so far.

Are you using >40% anywhere in the system where it could contact plain steel? If not the zinc plated is "ok". It does get a little corroded over years of use but nothing which would be unsuitable for plain air.

...or you could do the same with Swagelok stainless steel fittings. A quick look at the catalogue shows ss-6-AN-1-4 and ss-4-e would do the job. Downside is that it comes $38 but you could put pure O2 through it if you cleaned the parts before installation.

It will be all air, Nitrox less than 40%, and trimix.

The air will be used to top off 100% o2 deco tanks - but - the 100% will never actually flow through the system.

I was thinking about replacing everything with stainless - but - I dont really want to spend another 500+ in parts, unless I have to.....

I have this part along with others installed on a filter tower Northshore Compressor put together for me last year. They were very helpful in making sure I had everything I needed.

Im not sure what to do.

If I replace everything with Stainless, including the CGA 347 wrench tight nipple and nut - Im looking at 1100 more $$

Im not sure its worth it.

Buy cheap and buy twice! EBay can save you some money here. I have bought most of my system components from there and only bought the bits I couldn't find from Swagelok themselves.

I have used steel fitting for 40 years and the only issue is they will get some surface rust on them. Unless you are going to O2 clean everything, don't spend the money on stainless. Unless you just want to say "everything is stainless".

Jim if they're getting surface rust what's going on internally? I've seen plating coming off cheap components. I know I'd personally rather be breathing just clean air but then I guess the choice is down to the individual.
