Hi yall, I am using a Mk25 600 Regulator set with a R195. So theres this pressure gauge with a boot as you can see in the picture, and I read alot of salt and stuff gets into it. True enough when I removed it, it still is slimy despite drying for over 3 weeks. I also read that its possible to remove the boot completely. I'm tryna future proof my equipment here, if I remove this boot for this particular SPG, do yall know if its ok?

It's fine. Maybe I'd think twice about taking the boot off an SPG with a plastic body, but the metal ones like yours are happy to be naked.

Just be careful not to nick the hose when you cut off the plastic with a knife. Soak it in hot water to make it a little more flexible.

Well it looks pretty good in there what about doing what you have done and checking every so often
Without a boot they do make an ugly noise when they inevitably bang against things damaging them

Certainly washing your regs with hot water and splooshing them around, salt and stuff will all be gone

And more certainly always check the things you read, find your own evidence, otherwise you might do
somethong ridiculous like cutting your boot off, instead of unscrewing your hose and removing nicely

The way someone that knows and respects dive gear would do

Ah I'm not about to cut it off, dont worry there. I was gonna attach a boltsnap to it after removal to keep it secure. But good point, perhaps i would just leave the boot and check it

If i wanna remove it, i will get some shop to remove the gauge and thread it off. I dont think i will risk cutting it

Boots like that and the rubbery plastic "strain relief" sleeves you find on hoses need to go. They serve two purposes: advertisement for the maker so you buy a new, branded hose and retention of saltwater on the metal fittings hastening the sale of a new, branded hose when the fittings start to corrode sooner.

I added a backup spg for my air integrated computer, the boots are good to protect from bends and bangs, but if you take care of your gear it’s not a big deal. Mine won’t have a boot. Just carefully disconnect and pull hose out of boot. Good time to clean and replace spg orings.
