Hey all. I am buying 2 new steel 100's from my LDS. Any adivce on things I need to look for on the tanks - numbers, warranty, free air fills, a dancing monkey!? Seriously though, these are my first NEW STEEL tanks, bought used ones 2 decades ago and I got lucky thankfully they were good and the guy who sold them to me was good. I have been going to them for years but I want to be an educated consumer/diver.

I have the Worthing X-7 HP100's and love them. I would make sure that the Hydro date is with in the last couple months. If it's older then That you may want to get a newer Tank or a discount or if you use them a lot ask for a free Hydro credit for when the time comes. Other then that the LDS should inspect the tanks before giving them to you and you should be leaving with some sort of Air fill. Also I believe the tanks most come 02 Cleaned if not and you want to use nitrox Make sure you get that done.

If they are new they most likely are O2 clean. You should get a current vis sticker as well as one that states they are O2 clean. Hopefully they will not put those godawful 6inch wide bumper stickers on. All that does is get them 5-6 extra bucks every vis. Also if they are HP tanks make sure you can actually get a good fill or the HP is no real benefit. I prefer LP tanks as I know I can get a good fill most of the time and often get "real good" fills. Had my 95's pumped to 3200 for last weekend. That's equal to a 115. An HP 120 at 3200 is 111. A 100-is 93 cu ft. I look at the numbers and the choice for me is easy.

Dancing talking monkey so it can tell us brand, valves, manifold etc.

New steel tanks is O2-clean from the manufacturing line according to worthington (they have a video of the manufacturing process somwehere on youtube - "How to make worthington x-series" or something like that) and no, you dont need the tank o2-cleaned to use nitrox unless you intend to put o2 in direct contact with the tank (pp blending).

I have the Faber's and have no regrets with the brand. Buy 12L longs thou, they are great for doubles if you want to do tech diving, I made the mistake in buying the shorts (bombs).

Found the video of how they make those worthington x-series tanks..

Wow thanks for all the advice. I got the fabers, they did fill them, you guys all hit it right ont he money- my tech guru at lds said they tanks come o2 clean so doing nitrox don't need to be o2 cleaned.
Longs, bombs hmm never heard that one b4. They look similar in size to AL80 cept for the black bottom.
Man, I can't wait to dive with them hopefully next week, some scientific dives with college.

I really appreciate the advice- thanks all and HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY to all expecially the vets - me included.
