I'm getting more confuse, Nobody is saying the same thing. maybe I should Made a pool instead :D

I might get everything Use or new without warranty. I need another set of regs for my wife Maybe I should get her the Atomic some of you were talking about ? which model should I look for ?

One more thing. Lets say ,I am very good with my hands and tool, Is it possible to service my regs my self ? Is there somekind of book that teach how to do it ? Or it's very technical and I need lots of very expensive special tools ?

watch this video, YouTube - Brad's helmet cam, scuba regulator
screw the dive shops, buy used and do it yourself and save big bucks.

Now we are Talking. I dont see any big deal servicing first stage. As long as I can get the Parts. any video for a second stage and a console ?

I bought our first sets of Scubapro regs from an authorized dealer. After 3 different authorized shops screwed up the servicing of them over the next 4 years, I bought our next sets online and set out to prepare to service them myself. They are not difficult to service and parts for scubapro are available if you look around. Service kits are often on ebay. Now I buy all my regs on ebay (old Scubapro metals) and refurbish them myself.

I would not go with an X650. It is the oddball of the scubapro line and is no better performing than the high end "round" 2nds. I suggest you look at the S600 or G250. And Leisurepro is not selling fake regulators. I believe the regulator story that Oly5050 tells is more likely a manufacturing defect that ended up in LP stock. The largest scuba retailer in the world did not get there by selling fake stuff.

.

LP sold fake scubapro bcd's a while back.Made at the same facility that produced for scubapro but with out the same fittings.Scubapro sued and I believe that it was settled out of court.

I'm a show me kind of guy. After seeing thatr video I'm more than sure that I can rebuild and tune my own regulators.

I will however have a qualified, experienced person "show me" how it;s properly done before I do it myself.

Until then I'll be letting my LDS do the honors.

I saw one of those BCDs being resold on ebay. I can't verify the LP origin but am sure that with their diverse supply network they could well be a source. When I questioned the ebay seller on why it was missing a right shoulder dump valve, the offer disappeared.

I have no doubt that counterfeit goods occasionally turn up in retail outlets. In most cases I don't believe the outlets are aware that their good are counterfeit. But cases of this are very rare. As I recall, the counterfeit BCD incident was about 10 years ago.

Just to throw in my 2 psi, I bought a Scubapro MK25/GP250/R380 with long hose, BCD LP hose, and dry suit LP hose, and Pro Plus computer w/quick detach and compass on eBay for less than just the regs would have cost new.

If I had to do it again though, I would probably try to bite the bullet and buy new.

service is easy BUT 1) you need to invest in some decent tools that go a little beyond what most people have sitting in their garage. However, they will not cost a fortune - maybe $200. 2) you need easy and reliable access to parts. reason 2) is why i dive apeks. dive rite is another good alternative because they treat you like an adult and officially will sell their parts kits to anyone who wants them.

by the way, I would strongly advise getting the same regs for yourself and your wife. if you really want to consider servicing your own regs at some point having different models let alone manufaturers will unnecessarily complicate things.
