DeepSeaExplorer - If you miss one year of service, you have to pay full price the following year,
but you can have your warranty reinstated for the year after. This reinstatement is at the
shops discretion, they don't have to do it, but they don't lose anything if they do.

Someone in the classifieds has a set for sale unused with warrenty.

http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/ge...6-sale-new-unused-mk25-af-s600-r295-octo.html

buying from anyone ,used or unused, voids the warrenty if not purchased from the authorized dealer..
You got burned once for a fake OMS bcd,now you plan on going the same route with a regulator? I have seen fake regulators too,had a Aqualung Micra come in because the owner said it did not work..It was less than 6 months old.Purchased at LP..Opened up second stage and a pin than holds demand lever in place was rotted out.Supposed to be stainless ..same guy had a fake sherwood bcd, inflator fittings thinner plastic than the ones sherwood used and it shattered even before he took it in water.Purchased at LP.Good luck on your choices.

This is news to me... My understanding is that once you miss the first annual the warranty cannot be re-established. I've been told this by several ScubaPro shops. It would be great if it could...
Absolute BS! The shop/authorized tech asks when the last time it was serviced(maybe even ask for the plastic card) best bet is to have the owner card thingy and keep the receipt (one of a 3 part carbon copy service slip printed from scubapro) present these two pieces of info (receipt will have date of last service) and your full scubapro free parts for life will be reinstated. If you have it serviced somewhere that does not use scubapro parts (pretty easy to tell) you have to pay for the parts that time but next year it is under warante again.

That's news to me. I have the cards for 4 out of the 5 and have never been told that the warranty could be reinstated. I'll definately look into this when the come due for service again.

IF you plan to have your regs serviced anually and you plan to keep your regs for a long time; then the expense of the parts for life program may make sense. Service kits will run about $20 each on the high end 1st and 2nd stages. The $300 price difference would be recouped in 8 years. But you will also be paying about $75 for labor every year which is probably only necessary every other year.

I would not go with an X650. It is the oddball of the scubapro line and is no better performing than the high end "round" 2nds. I suggest you look at the S600 or G250. And Leisurepro is not selling fake regulators. I believe the regulator story that Oly5050 tells is more likely a manufacturing defect that ended up in LP stock. The largest scuba retailer in the world did not get there by selling fake stuff.

If you decide to go with the authorized Scubapro dealer, insist on the allowable 10% discount and see what else he can do to sweeten the deal. If the dealer won't come off MSRP, go elsewhere. There are plenty of Scubapro dealers and some are good businessmen.

More fake Gear :bigun2: I can't beleive that Sh**. Btw I contacted OMS by email to let them know they gear were being Copy, Still no answer. I send a Letter by mail Yesterday hope its' gonna shake them up.

Anyways I think Im gonna get a Diverite wing to go with the my fake OMS harness :flush:
Or Ill throw just everything in the Garbage and get a Zeagle Ranger.

As For the $695 1rst & 2nd. This is in Canadian Money with our 15% tax included. And I already had a discount on that price

If I do a 2 hours ride down south and get my Regs from Burlinton Vermont LDS will my gear still be warranty in Canada ?

All that bull**** copied Gear is really starting to piss me Off :eyebrow:

The scubapro warrenty is worldwide I believe, but the seperate parts-for-life program is a Scubapro USA only thing which covers USA and CAN. If you need parts in MEX or anywhere else, you get to buy them. With the US dollar in the tank, driving down to Vt may be a worthwhile savings.

Buy from your LDS. Having a GLOBAL Scubrpro warranty, free parts for life, and not having to deal with the BS and cost of shipping your regulator to some nameless, faceless, likely non-Scubrpro certified tech is ABSOLUTELY worth the price difference. I feel the need to have a personal connection with the folks who are both selling and servicing the gear that my life depends on. Your LDS is the only place where you're likely to get that "eye to eye" interaction.

Whatever you do, please do not repeat the pathetic scene I personally observed last week at my LDS when the guy who picked up his Scubrpro regulator (which he obviously bought on line) after an annual service tried to convince the shop owner (despite the fact that the LDS maintains both a POS database of all sales AND copies of all warranry cards) that he bought it from them and therefore he shouldn't have to pay the $25 for the parts!! If you want the convenience, quality repair, personal service, and factory warranty benefits afforded by your LDS, man-up and buy it from them!!

I'm getting more confuse, Nobody is saying the same thing. maybe I should Made a pool instead :D

I might get everything Use or new without warranty. I need another set of regs for my wife Maybe I should get her the Atomic some of you were talking about ? which model should I look for ?

One more thing. Lets say ,I am very good with my hands and tool, Is it possible to service my regs my self ? Is there somekind of book that teach how to do it ? Or it's very technical and I need lots of very expensive special tools ?

A poll probably won't tell you much, as most people will just tell you to do what they did. First, about the LDS, I bought my first reg from mine, but they did such a lousy overpriced job of servicing that I never took it back. Instead, I send my regs off to a tech who I know wil do the job right. So, I suppose the moral is, if you have a LDS that has a service tech you trust, there might be an advantage to buyng from them. But there are plenty of terrible techs out there, and just because they're "certified" it doesn't mean they're necessarily good.

Buying used can be an excellent way to get a good deal on a reg, or you could get stuck with something useless. If you feel confident about doing the right deal, and you can budget an initial re-build into the cost, you can save some money and sometimes buy a better reg than you can get new. I still believe the old SP regs are better than most of the new ones. I doubt that I"ll ever buy another new reg, but I'm certain I'll get another used one at some point. The warranty is not worth much IMO. You still pay for service; parts are usually much less than 1/2 the cost of annual service.

You can learn to service your own regs; there are some good books on the subject (just do a search) but you will have to invest some money in tools and find a source for parts; many reg companies will not sell parts to consumers. At some point I will probably head this route myself, but I'm not in a hurry to do it.
