HI everybody

well after my issue with OMS contrefit BCD , Im now looking for which Reg I should Get :coffee:
I was told if your going really get into diving Log 50 dives or more a year ,you want to get the best regs Once and for all ,that it's.
If you are not sure that you will like that much but want to buy regs, get cheaper ones.

Me being Damned with BC, Ive decide to go with the Regs Until I swallow My $300 Bc pills.

My LDS Told me to get Scubapro Only thing they wanted $1200 for the whole kit.
Bran new with the lifetime warranty on parts...
Very nice but :mooner: no way Im gonna pay $1200 for Regs. MK17, X650 , scubapro 2gauges console (no computer) , R190 Octo.

My LDS told me this is about the best package I could get for the price and the I will love it in any condition (cold,Warm ...)

I already got the Gauges (uwatec mechanical) and Octo (R295) Second hand like new gear for less $150.

I only need the first and second stage with a BC hose, even though I dont have a usable bc ...

Here my Question

-Is the MK17/X650 Combo is a good Ideal, or maybe I should look for something else ?
My LDS told me I tried it with a Mk25 and in cold water he liked the MK17 better.

-Should I get it new with warranty for a autorized Dealer ? $695

-Should I get New without warranty (leisure pro or other) $399

My concern beein Is worthed to pay $300 more to save on parts cost or I will keep the regs not long enough to to see the color of my money ?

Thanks Guys

It's up to you, but honestly I don't think the free parts is worth that much. BTW, any scubapro reg (or any other from a reputable company) is going to be plenty good enough for any rec diving. Even the lowly MK2/R190 will perform well in cold water and down to any rec depth.

Unless you'll be diving in sub 40F water (entirely possible in Canada) the MK25 will work great, although the MK 17 should be less expensive. As far as current 2nd stages, I would consider a G250 over the X650, but other people might disagree.

leisure pro has a free parts for life deal....you have to ship it to them for service.

$1,200 seems high to me. (I'm strictly ScubaPro myself.) But, I think you can do better on the price. I personnally don't expect to get the free parts for life so I don't use it in calculating the deal. I have 5 ScubaPro MK20s and every one of them is not getting the free parts because I missed the due date on an annual service at one point or another. Now, I only have them serviced every other year and have had no failures. But, 2 years is the limit, any longer and you will start to notice a slight decrease in performance.

Volks - Have you asked your shop for a discount? Sometimes all you have to do is ask. Perhaps
offer to pay in cash. They will not be able to match, but may give you something. Yes, Leisure Pro "matches" the manufacturers warranty -but they do not have authorized and trained Scubapro techs doing the work on these regulators FWIW.

Missing an annual service date does not cancel or void your warrantee, it merely suspends it. As long as you are the original owner and have proof of service within 15 months you get free parts. If you go 2-3 years without service, then you have to pay next time, but you should get your proof of service tickets. next year you get free parts again.

Check different LDS for the price on the mk17 x650 can be allot cheaper. I was able to pick mine up for 480 with tax usd. The same LDS has one more left for 418 out the door with full warranty. Any place that wont work with you on the price isnt worth your time IMO.
As far as going with Leasure pro or with LDS once they hit a price point I wanted to spend I went with the LDS. The rest of the gear that I have been picking up is used and in good shape. good luck in your choice.

This is news to me... My understanding is that once you miss the first annual the warranty cannot be re-established. I've been told this by several ScubaPro shops. It would be great if it could...

If you are not sure that you will like that much but want to buy regs, get cheaper ones.

If you're diving a lot, you should have good regs.

If you're not diving a lot, you absolutely should have good regs.

The last thing in the world that you want is a reg that breathes hard or strangely when you're under stress or deep.

Money, however is a different story. The Atomic regs are every bit as good as SP regs (maybe even a little better depending on which models you're comparing) and are significantly less expensive.

Used regs are even cheaper. You can buy a used top-shelf reg for a lot less money.

They all need annual (or bi-annual) service anyway, and a used reg you get serviced will breathe every bit as good as a new reg.
