So anyone gonna be there tomorow mornig?

I do believe that JimJam and Dbg40 are planing on getting there around 8. I wish I could come but I have a prior commitment... Next time.

We (johnnyseko and I) dove at Ft. Wetherell today in the left cove. It was dang cold. The vis. sucked. It was crowded with obnoxious kids. I am so cold that I will refrain from my usual flowery speech and just tell you what we saw:

About half a dozen lobsters (all of which were too small and/or which I failed to catch)
Some neat anemones, both lined and the kind that burrows in the mud
a gunnelish fish
a 6"ish sculpin
Lotsa cunner
a couple juvenile tautog
a spotfin butterfly fish about the size of a silver dollar who was colder than me
2 fishing lures
a golf ball
a piebald green crab
a puffer fish about the size of a grape
a BIG flounder that had a BIG nasty bite wound

Did I mention it was cold?

I dove in RI last week the water is still pretty warm. What was the water temp this weekend.

50-54ish from about 30' to the surface. I am not a large person, water below 60 really doesn't agree with me.

Wish I could join you guys but I made some promises that I have pushed off all summer to dive. No pressure from Dbg40 to push it off another day though.. Next time. Have a great dive.

Yup. Friday. I need a new used car before I can afford a drysuit of my very own :frown:

you can find one - mine only cost me $500 (it is a DUI cf200)

Leaving your wetsuit on Johnny? Hmmmmm.. :hm: I could do that. And I thought I was the only wierdo who took warm showers with his gear...
I think I'll try keeping my suit on for the drive home today, Thanx Johnny, I'll give it a try...

You two WILL get hypothermia before you finish! Go re-read the chapter in the BOW book about the properties of water and how it sucks heat. Ok so I left mine on but I was already mildly hypothermic and I was NOT stripping down in that wind and besides I only live 15 minutes from the dive site. I know better though
"Do as I say, not as I do!"

If you are just snorkeling you can find a trilam drysuit with no valves for $100

Yeah, there was NO WAY I was taking the wetsuit off outside today. I thought about it briefly and then stuck with plan A, which is keep it on, get in car, blast heat, drive home fast and go directly into hot shower where I then take it off.;) So far so good! I'm getting used to sharing the shower with all my gear............

There is some strange pleasure in driving with a wetsuit on. I've only done it once to get to the other side of a lake, but I had this feeling that I was ready for anything. I don't think that I would wear a wetsuit in the shower, but then again, I usually don't rinse my gear. :D

Gidds, these threads are great reading- don't ever get a drysuit. :D
