Several posts by people using BP/W and integrated weights indicate that the weights should be mounted on the waist belt as close to the backplate as possible.

Does this mean moving the shoulder strap/waist belt connection forward to allow the IW to sit *between* the BP and the connector, or simply mounting the IW as the next thing after the connector (BP then connector then IW)?

Thanks...:D

I am not sure about all the multi-piece harness configurations. Many bp/w divers use 1-piece harnesses where it comes over the shoulders, into one slot and back out of an adjacent slot. Just as the harness comes back through the plate and toward the front of the diver is where the weights are placed.

If you have a multi-piece harness where the shoulder straps are adjustable where they meet the waist strap then yes, weights then shoulder straps.

This is of course all personally configurable. You can switch it around any way you find that works best for you.

The Dive Rite 32 lb weight pouches, for example, have a loop for the waist strap to thread through but also a loop for the shoulder strap to thread through so that the pouch stays next to the backplate.

DA Aquamaster...the 32# DR weight pockets you describe are, I believe, the older model, which I have and love...I bought a set of new ones (updated model) as a backup and unfortunately discovered that not only are they considerably bulkier but the vertical loop for the shoulder strap to thread through is gone--there are now only the two horizontal loops for the waist belt and these are now slightly oblique so the pockets sit at a slight angle...

Look at the zeagle pockets, they have some that have tabs and are mounted via sex bolts to the plate. Best part is if you need to ditch the lead no pocekts are lost, just the lead, I love mine, got em on both rigs.

Sex bolts you say?????:D
